Happy Mother's Day

It’s rare I can talk my mom into going to a Mets game but this happened last year. And I got a really nice picture of us by cropping out my dad and cousin.

I’m lucky enough to be able to see my mom this Mother’s Day.

I actually get to see her on Mother’s Day quite a bit - years ago the girls’ dance rehearsals were on Mother’s Day weekend and she made the trip here.

More recently that scheduling has changed…but that’s allowed me to go down to New York the past couple of years and spend time in Queens with my mom.

(And also go to the Mets game on Mother’s Day.)

(Last year I went to the game with my sister - one of the many moms I celebrate on Mother’s Day - and we watched a Sunday Night game the Mets came back and won on a Brandon Nimmo walk-off 2-run home run. Very exciting. But I digress.)

Of course my mom allegiances have been split over the past 18 years since Kathy became a mom.

We don’t really have any Mother’s Day traditions. It’s a little scattered depending on which city we’re in and whose family we’re with.

This year, for example, Kathy will be traveling for work on Mother’s Day.

So we’ll recognize her, but it won’t necessarily be on the second Sunday in May this year.

Which is fine.

Because when it comes down to it I try to remind the girls as often as possible to be appreciative of their mom.

And I try to remember it myself too.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.
