Wendy's Brownie Batter Frosty
Last Sunday, after the Red Sox game, we got some dessert on the way home.
It was a beautiful day for a ballgame, but it was still hot - and the lines for frozen treats at Fenway Park were insane.
So we left a touch early, and we said we’d get some kind of frozen treat on the way home.
We decided on Wendy’s, and we had a couple of chocolate Frostys and a couple of vanilla Frostys.
Those decisions were made as we pulled in, so I was locked and ready to go with the order, but when I pulled up to the menu a ‘Brownie Batter’ caught my eye.
It was too late to change my order, but I promised I would go back to see what that was about.
And Tuesday, after my intervals run in 90-degree temperatures, I decided I had earned myself a Brownie Batter Frosty.
First of all, I was afraid I had dreamed it up.
It wasn’t until I was back in front of the menu at the drive-through that I got my hopes up that this drink actually existed. (See how confusing that looks - that Oreo Brownie confused me and I thought I imagined brownie batter.)
But sure enough, there it was, and we brought some back home and enjoyed them while we watched the All Star Game.
These were certainly brownie batter-tasting, but if I’m being honest, the brownie batter wasn’t spread out well enough.
I think first of all, the brownie batter topping was mixed in with vanilla ice cream - I think had it been chocolate ice cream I probably would have thought it was great. (I didn’t read the fine print on the menu there that I could have chosen either.)
But as it was it was a lot of separate tastes - the vanilla ice cream, and occasionally a spoonful of brownie batter icing. (And again, there it is on the menu - it’s just a swirl. Not a ‘fusion’ - maybe that has to be my next try.)
Which, I mean, that’s delicious, but I wanted a full cup of brownie batter-tasting ice cream.
Maybe that’s just a hard blend to create.
Either way, it might be worth getting one more time just to see if another batch mixes better. Maybe with chocolate. And then another time, maybe the Oreo Brownie.
But, not unlike the S’mores ice cream from a couple of weeks ago, I have a new quest - to find the perfect brownie batter-flavored ice cream. (Which I think I’m deciding in this moment is very different than a fudge brownie ice cream. I’m not talking chunks of brownie - I’m talking about that sweet brownie batter flavor mixed right in. You get it.)
And failing that, probably a few more Frostys in my future.
