2025 Week 21 To-Do
I broke out my 1994 Eastern Conference championship t-shirt for Friday night’s Game 2.
I had a shocking revelation this week.
I did not stay up for all of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday night. (The 8pm start is wayyyyy different than a 7pm start.) I went to bed with the Knicks up about 9 at the start of the 4th quarter. It was for the best, considering the frustrating way the game ended…and the fact that it was extended into the late hours by overtime.
But I realized, as I was thinking about Knicks-Pacers, that I actually owe the Pacers a lot.
It’s hard for me to explain just how upset I used to get over sports. I mean, big losses ruined my days, weeks…it was rough.
And after Patrick Ewing missed the shot at the end of Game 7 of the 1995 East semifinals against the Pacers, I was devastated…following the devastation from the year before in the NBA Finals.
Within the next day or so I decided I shouldn’t get that upset over sports. I almost immediately became less invested in the Knicks, and it took me a little bit to transfer that approach to my other teams.
But, thanks to the Pacers, I started to get a little bit of a life outside of sports in late 1995.
This Week’s To-Do
I’ve decided to make this week a Theme Week here on the blog - I’m going to theme it ‘Recovery Week’ and write about a bunch of the ways I recover from the heavy exercise.
The end of this week brings a first - Seeing My Daughter Off At Prom. (Fun fact: I didn’t go to my prom. Considering how big a deal people make about senior prom this can probably be classified as the first big decision I made in my life that I didn’t regret in any way.)
I’m also planning on Joining The Running Group For A Fun Run on Thursday.
This Week’s May-Do
Historically Memorial Day weekend has been a consistent time that I’ve Cleaned the Grill. I am not sure I’m going to get to that this weekend…but it’s about due for a cleaning.
There will be More Painting - The only thing that makes this a ‘may’ instead of a ‘will’ do is that I have to buy more paint first. We’re kind of turning the corner into the home stretch of this project.
Let’s check in on what I had planned for the week that was…with a reminder you can click here for all of the details:
Last Week’s To-Do
It’s weird when I can’t watch the Mets. I listened to the games, mostly, and watched a few innings at the restaurant on Monday. The extra weird thing is since the Mets-Dodgers series this weekend is on national TV I will have gone more than a full week since I had a Mets SNY game. Looking forward to Gary Keith and Ron again on Monday. (Memorial Day afternoon baseball!)
Both the dance recital and the band concert were lovely.
Last Week’s May-Do
I finished the shelves I needed to finish, but I haven’t touched the painting since. We’ll get back to that this week.
I haven’t put the pictures back up yet, but I did get around to finally hanging my medal display!
