2025 Week 44 To-Do

It is ridiculous how little I see the professional football team I root for win.

It’s ridiculous in any season…but then there’s this season, where they’ve come close to a win numerous times and yet went into last weekend 0-7.

My daughter and I took a Sunday day trip into Queens to watch the game with my parents. (Well, to visit my parents and watch the game while we were there.)

We gave up early in the 4th quarter and went upstairs to eat something…and then when we finished eating the comeback was on.

We saw the Jets get their first win of the season and I had the presence of mind to capture the joy of the moment.

I had forgotten what it was like to enjoy a win.

And yet, here I am, thinking that maybe they’ll go on a tear and somehow finish with a respectable season. (I don’t really believe that.) (Or DO I?)

At the very least, this is the one week every year we know the Jets won’t lose.

Because it’s their bye week.

Here’s what’s happening this week, as we head into November:

This Week’s To-Do

  • I guess I have to Vote On Tuesday. We have a mayoral election here in Framingham.

  • Also, I have Tuesday Off From Work. The girls are home from school too.

  • Sunday morning the running club hosts its annual trail race. Often I’ve been out of town this weekend - the past bunch of years I’ve been down in New York City either watching or running in the marathon. This year I’m available to Volunteer. I’m helping register runners and then handing out water at the finish, I think.

  • I guess there’s a chance on Friday I’m Picking Kevin Up From The Airport. It’s a little up in the air (no pun intended) at the moment whether he’s making the trip for the half marathon, but if he comes, I will be waiting there excitedly.

  • I should Enter A Couple Of Race Lotteries this week too.

And here’s how last week went, with a reminder you can click here to read the list in more detail:

Last Week’s To-Do

  • I raked. And so many more leaves have fallen it’s back to looking like I’ve done nothing. Such is October and November.

  • I have cleared the space of objects…now it’s just a matter of getting the painting done.

  • Other than a couple of days here and there (including today and tomorrow, which I didn’t put in for some reason), the November menu is ready.

  • The National Honor Society night is one of the nicest school events we’ve been to in all of our parenting experience. We’ve been lucky to experience it twice.

  • Kathy said she would see the Springsteen movie with me. We have had trouble finding a good time to go. It’ll happen.
