Raising Cane's
When I started this project for 2025 I kept a little grid where I wrote down all of my posts so I could do a quick search in case I was afraid I was going to repeat something I already wrote about.
Then I took the job back in March and all of my routines changed and some things fell by the wayside and while I have continued to do this writing every day, I have not always recorded what I wrote about in the grid.
There have not been many times where I’ve started a post and thought to myself, “I think I already wrote about this.”
Actually, there have been zero times.
Until today.
But I searched and I didn’t find anything so I don’t think I have dedicated a post to Raising Cane’s - I think I might have mentioned it as one of the post-long run treats I was looking forward to having.
I hadn’t done that yet - I had Jersey Mike’s a few times, but I’ve really only gorged myself on snacky food at home rather than ordering in.
Saturday night, though, we were doing takeout and I had a good long run and I felt like Raising Cane’s, so that’s what I did.
My first exposure to Raising Cane’s was the one by Boston University, in the old McDonald’s location on West Campus, a few years ago. I wanted to take my daughters to a basketball game and my oldest daughter negotiated - she’d go if we went to Raising Cane’s. Fine. Deal.
I didn’t love it.
Then there was news they were building one in Framingham and I wasn’t all that excited because it was only OK.
But we went to the new one either late last year or early this year and it was outstanding. (Not a great reflection of the work being done by the folks near BU.)
I think the chicken is better than Chick-fil-A, and even better for me - it does not upset my stomach the way Chick-fil-A does.
I usually get what you see above - I think it’s called the Box Meal - just about four chicken strips, a piece of Texas toast, and some fries.
The dipping sauce is very good too.
I don’t eat many things these days that aren’t super healthy - my stomach just can’t handle it. I don’t really know the nutritional value of a meal from Raising Cane’s.
It can’t be great - but the fact that my stomach handles it well could mean there’s some redeeming value to it?
Either way, it’s a real treat when I have it.
But only if it’s from the one in Framingham.
