Monthly Goal Check-In #9
Happy October to you.
Final three months of the year.
Still a lot of action to come with these goals, beginning with a big one in less than two weeks. Let’s get to the monthly check-in:
Running/Exercise Goals
Take a Peloton Class in Studio: If I was going to New York weekly or every other week like I have in the past couple of years this would probably be a little more front of mind. But as it is I haven’t even thought about it. We haven’t been down to New York for a visit since the beginning of August. I guess maybe after the marathon I’ll get back to it. On the plus side, my legs feel great so not sitting in the car for three hours back and forth has been good.
100 Day Streak Challenge: Check. Completed. So long ago.
Complete at least 1 Marathon and 1 Half Marathon: Complete the marathon. I like that that’s a top goal, before we get to any time milestones. Good thinking, John. Marathon in eleven days, half marathon in another month.
Complete the B.A.A. Distance Medley: I should be getting that half marathon bib in the mail soon - the half marathon will complete the distance medley. I gave a little update on how I was feeling about it, which also has links to the recaps of each previous race if you’re interested.
Run a sub-5 hour Marathon: I’ll add this comment to last week’s 18-mile run where everything seemed amiss - I think I might have had a little cold. Feeling better now. Glad that happened this week and not next week.
2026 Boston Marathon: The goal posts might have moved on this one. I guess I’ll be finding out soon whether or not that’s true. A little disappointing but I’ve done what I can…hopefully I still can be in the running.
Writing
Finish Book Draft: I should write a bigger post about this, but I think I’m done with the draft of the draft. There are parts I skipped through that I know I have to go back to but I have a solid draft.
Document 2025 on this blog every day: I’m a little worried about what happens here after I no longer have the automatic Sunday training recap post…I hope I don’t run out of ideas. But maybe I can keep that going as I get ready for the half marathon.
Publish a Written Piece: Probably not happening.
Other
Read More: I’ll be finishing what I’m reading now soon…after that I don’t know what I’ll read next.
Learn New Things and Experience New Things: I recently looked something up that I was curious about…maybe I should write about it. This is still a part of my year, just haven’t written about it a ton.
