Two Goals In One Shot
When I wrote the goals for 2025 I did not think about the fact that the culminating event of one goal would result in the accomplishment of another goal.
But, since I ran just one half marathon this year, and it’s the half marathon that wraps up the BAA Distance Medley, on Sunday that’s exactly what happened.
I’ll write more about how the half marathon went tomorrow but the long and short of it is that it went a lot better than I was expecting, after just a few runs since I ran Chicago.
Half marathon: Completed
Distance Medley: Completed
It would not have been fair to include other people in my goals in a way that would have required them to travel for a race, but if I could have set such a goal I would have said something like, “Boy would it be nice if I could run a race with my friend.”
So I accomplished that unwritten/unspoken/previously unthought of goal as well - and it was a really great weekend overall.
When registration for the half marathon opened, Kevin signed up and said he’d make the call as it got closer about whether he was coming.
I’m glad he did - we had a great time.
I am really glad I ran the Distance Medley, and the nice thing about it is if I sign up in time, it’s something I can do again and again well into an advanced age.
As I said, more to come tomorrow about the final race.
I’ll probably also be telling you about the pretty awesome medal I got.
And now I’ll be resting my legs for a bit before we kick off whatever lies ahead in 2026.
