Runner's World The Magazine

I told you weeks ago about how I subscribed to Runner’s World so that I could follow (mostly) their marathon training plan for this Chicago Marathon experience.

The subscription process was so convoluted that I knew I was getting access to online stuff - what I didn’t realize was that I was also getting a subscription to the physical magazine.

So it was a nice surprise when the magazine came in the mail in mid-July.

I actually didn’t have high hopes for the magazine - I remember one time I was in Marathon Sports and saw a running magazine and picked it up because I figured maybe I’d learn something and it was nothing more than a bunch of advertisements and local races listed.

It was garbage - nothing you couldn’t get online in some other form.

Maybe it was a Runner’s Digest? I don’t know - it seemed like something reputable if I remember correctly but I was very disappointed by it.

Anyway, because of that I was wary of the physical Runner’s World magazine, but I just recently read it and it was great.

This particular edition had a couple of longer features, but what really interested me was a big section reviewing the best sneakers of the year - I got some ideas for other sneakers to try out once my New Balances end their life cycle.

And then there was another section where I got some good suggestions about carb loading - I’ll be telling you more about that one tomorrow.

I actually don’t even know how often I get this magazine - I don’t think it’s monthly because I think I would have received August’s by now. Maybe every other month? Maybe it’s quarterly. (Upon closer inspection, this one seems to be for Summer 2025…so maybe quarterly.)

I’ll dig into that a little more, but I’ll tell you this: I am pretty excited to read the new one when it comes.
