My New Feetures

A few years ago I stumbled upon Feetures - I don’t quite remember how I settled on them but as I’ve written about I’ve struggled with taking care of my feet during long runs and maybe someone at Marathon Sports suggested them? Maybe I followed some advice online?

Either way, I bought some and I haven’t turned back - my feet have definitely felt better running in these socks than the regular cotton socks I used to use.

Although the first thing I do when I get back from any run is immediately shed my shoes and socks, I do value those socks during the time I spend running.

I probably don’t need the Features for the 30-to-40 minute runs, but I’ve taken to wearing them for all runs, and they’re wearing down.

So I decided I’d better get a couple of new pairs before the Chicago Marathon.

I popped into Marathon Sports on Sunday (it was important to go on Sunday so I could wear the new socks on Monday morning’s run and wash them before packing them for Chicago) and got two pairs.

I unintentionally signed myself up for another new thing though - I had two pairs in my hand - the gray you see pictured above and a black pair, and then I saw the blue pair and grabbed them. XL is increasingly hard to find, so if I see an XL in a certain color it’s worth getting, and I have a few of the black pairs already.

BUT, I was so distracted by the XL I didn’t notice that blue pair is ‘Ultra Light,’ not ‘Max Cushion,’ which is the tried-and-true sock I’ve had success with.

I noticed when I walked out of the store and almost immediately turned around and then figured I should give them a shot.

Especially on those shorter runs I mentioned above.

But not before the marathon - I don’t want to risk any blisters or anything with something new.

So I will wear the gray on Sunday - I ran in them on Monday and didn’t think twice about my feet as I ran so that’s a good sign. They’re very comfortable.

Then once the marathon is over I’ll give the ultra lights a shot and see how that goes.
