Kathy's Temperature Blanket

Today is Kathy’s birthday, and in honor of that rather than tell you about a new thing I’m doing, I’ll tell you about a cool new thing she is doing.

She’s been working on a temperature blanket this year, which is very cool and definitely the type of thing I would do if I had any ability to crochet.

Here’s how it works:

Every day in 2025 she’s been recording the high temperature for the day in Framingham from the same website (for consistency’s sake) and then different colors respond to different temperature ranges:

Under 20 degrees is navy blue

20-30 degrees is peacock blue

30-40 degrees is slate blue

40-50 degrees is patina green

50-60 degrees is verdigris (it’s a green shade)

60-70 degrees is primrose (that’s a yellow shade)

70-80 degrees is egg yolk (this is apparently orange)

80-90 degrees is neon pink

90-100 degrees is marsala

over 100 degrees is burgundy

She’s had 1 under 20 and 1 over 100 so far this year.

It looks really cool, as you can see above. That’s January at the bottom, working its way up to some time in July, I think. She’s a couple of weeks behind.

She also threads a silver yarn through significant dates, like birthdays and our anniversary.

So I thought that would be a fun thing to highlight today, on a silver thread day.

Happy Birthday Kathy.
