iTab
I think I might have said I closed the book on Chicago but I do have one loose end that needs to be tied up because it arrived over the weekend:
I got a nice little remembrance of the 2025 Chicago Marathon for myself.
I ordered an iTab, which I think exists for many different medals but is advertised pretty heavily in the Chicago Marathon e-mails.
Basically, there’s an opening on the back of the medal, and you can order one of these little tabs (an iTab, if you will) to fit right into that opening.
I think the company is in England, because it says to allow up to a month for delivery…so I wasn’t expecting it when it arrived.
It’s fun to get mystery mail.
I got a square-ish envelope with a return address that I didn’t really square in my mind could be the iTab.
I thought it was junk, to be honest.
But I opened it and there’s a card that opens up bottom to top, and it’s just the Chicago Marathon logo.
And I was like, “Oh wow, mail from the Chicago Marathon - maybe they do this if you get a personal best in the race.” Or something like that. I didn’t know why I was getting a Chicago Marathon card. (And I didn’t expect them to know it was my overall PB…just a Chicago Marathon PB - I’m not insane.)
And then I opened it up and there was the iTab.
Great packaging. Very exciting delivery.
And, as you see in the picture at the top, now my medal has a nice remembrance of what to date has been my best marathon.
The best part of the iTab - just $15 through the Chicago Marathon discount.
If I improve upon that time in future races I’ll consider springing for a more expensive remembrance: I’ve always had my eye on one of those picture frames with a nice picture from the race and the time and medal display.
But for now, I’m thrilled with my time in Chicago and my little remembrance of it on the back of my medal.
